Movies and movie stars have an astounding effect on people and fashion. And maybe that is one reason costumes are a great inspiration to everyone including fashion designers. Here are some of my all time favorite movies and characters that inspired generations to come. Sabrina Sabrina is one of my favorite movies of all time and Audrey Hepburn's parisian style makeover is every girl's dream. She made the famous LBD (little black dress) ever so popular. Annie Hall Who says a tie, vest and trousers were menswear only. Diane Keaton looked as sexy as ever in her menswear inspired costumes. I always love Woody Allen's films, just something about all his characters, they seem very effortless and still quite sexy. Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the city She is daring, girly and has a shoe fetish. Carrie Bradshaw in 'Sex and the city' taught us to take some risks and be okay with some bad choices, in fashion and love. This was one of those shows i was not allowed to watch growing up but managed to anyways (sorry dad!). Atonement As moving as the movie was, i will never forget the moment i saw keira knightley in that green dress. It's a dress that has a life on it's own and i was so fortunate to see it displayed in the FIDM, Los Angeles Costume library. Some of the perks of living in hollywood :). Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl She ruled the fashion and gossip from the Met steps of New York. She is the Queen B of style, elegance and femininity. Blair often combined my favorite designer Marc Jacobs clothes with bold and colorful accessories. Her signature style was the bold and bright satchels and some of the finest woolen jackets and capes.

My school days were filled with endless chatter, giggles and no less drama than gossip girl. We had no Facebook or Internet to pass our time. We grew up in a small town where everyone knew everyone. That didn't stop us from having fun though. Me and my best friend conspiring to many mischiefs I still dare not say. I loved every bit of those drama filled school days, silly school crushes and long bike rides around the town. Enjoying a cola and wiling away all our time, dancing and singing on the streets with no care who was watching us, it was a time of great hope, joy and beauty. A reminder of how pure life once was with no clutter or noise around us. Today Lets once more remind ourselves to marvel at sunrise or full moon and gaze into the sky full of stars and dream a dream. Happy Labor Day weekend everyone! Who doesn't love some good deals, shopping and BBQ to celebrate the end of summer. Here are some of the deals online to transition into the fall wardrobe. Friday is already here and i am so happy for my website and blog to have so many readers in just one week. Feeling thankful.
After a few requests from my friends, i decided to make some fun and basic style sets that work for all shapes and sizes. So if you are the really tall one or a curvy one, whatever the shape, frugal stylist has got you covered.
Turning thirty is always a turning point in ones life. My twenties was all about confidence and growing into a woman of the world. Fashion wise it was to try as many styles and learn about the world around me. I was also very fortunate to travel to Europe, England and live in Dubai for a couple of years. It gave me a chance to observe many cultures and their fashions. We met some great people along the way. As i turned thirty, i was also crossing another huge milestone in my life, becoming a mother. My son taught me so many precious things that i am thankful for everyday. But as a woman, what i wasn't aware of was how drastically my body was going to change. For better or worse, we got to take it and flow with it. I think i was trying to fit my old wardrobe into my new body and that is the biggest mistake one can do as a new mother. I admit it, a fashion identity crisis is the last thing on your mind when you are changing diapers and trying to calm a baby. But, a little shopping time might have saved me from a lot of those closet agonies trying to fit in my old jeans. After two lovely years in my body after pregnancy, i feel like i am embracing the changes. I know the kind of outfits that looks good on me now and i also know that there are some dresses in my closet that might never fit the same way again but that's okay. Hopefully, other moms out there or even someone who lost or gained a lot of weight might identify with the crisis and realize how important it is to embrace your body the way it is. Once you feel beautiful inside, finding your inner fashionista is no crisis at all.
Beautiful dresses are a sure fit way to spruce up your day. Here are some classic and fun dresses that can go a long way in your wardrobe. |
